Dr. Erik Wert, Medical Director, holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biology from Union College, Schenectady, NY, and a medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, East Lansing, Michigan. Dr. Wert is Board Certified Internal Medicine and is a Fellow in the American College of Osteopathic Internists. He recently completed his Master of Public Health Degree from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. Dr. Wert's final project examined Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis for prevention of HIV in the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer/Questioning (LGBTQ) community. He completed his traditional internship and Internal Medicine Residency at Ingham Regional Medical Center/McLaren-Greater Lansing in 2005. Following that he entered into private practice. Dr. Wert was both the Assistant/Associate Medical Director in August, 2014. Dr. Wert is responsible for the coordination and oversight of all medical care and services administered through the Ingham Community Health Centers. Dr. Wert also lectures on LGBTQ healthcare at both local and state levels. Dr. Wert provides primary care services focusing on preventive medicine, hypertension and diabetes management. Specific areas of interest: LGBTQ healthcare, Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), and LGBTQ healthcare disparities. Dr. Wert has a positive sexual health stance, and tries to make patients feel empowered to make their own sexual health decisions.
Dr. Stephen Pittel, Dental Director, received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Detroit. He is a Lt. Colonel of the Michigan Air National Guard and the Dental Service Commander, 127th Wing. Dr. Pittel provides direct patient care and oversees all dental services within the Ingham Community Health Centers and Ingham County Jail, together with school-age and community-based oral health programs.
Dr. Sugandha Lowhim, Medical Director- Public Health Services, has worked with Ingham Community Health Centers since 1996. She is a provider at River Oak Community Health Centers and specializes in Internal Medicine. Dr. Lowhim enjoys working with chronic diseases and public health.

She has been practicing since 2004 with the primary background of Family Medicine, She also has many years of experience working Urgent Care. Angela sub-specialized in Plastic Surgery for a few years working primarily with the hand surgeons who do elective and reconstructive hand surgery. During that time she certified in Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy and served as a panel member of the St. Lawrence Wound Clinic. Angela is now part of the ICHD team doing Family Medicine.
